EAEU Heads of Government Hold Expanded Meeting in Cholpon-Ata

Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, has become a traditional meeting ground for Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) heads of government. The 47th meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIC) convened with leaders from Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Representatives from observer states Iran, Cuba, and Uzbekistan also attended.

Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev highlighted the union's growing complexity and the expanding scope of cooperation. "We meet year after year to discuss pressing issues of Eurasian integration, and the agenda of our cooperation is becoming increasingly multifaceted," Kasymaliev stated. He noted that the progressive development of the union is reflected in these expanding interactions.

The meeting agenda featured over 15 economic issues, with a significant emphasis placed on food security. Kasymaliev recalled prior discussions on developing a common agricultural market and a Kyrgyz initiative to bolster the agri-food sector. "Modern challenges require us not only to analyze the situation but also to develop effective joint mechanisms for rapid response," he emphasized, underscoring the need for swift, collaborative solutions.

Following the discussions, three key agreements were slated for signing. These include accords on e-commerce, the admission of brokers and dealers to EAEU exchange trading, and the mutual recognition of academic titles across member states. These agreements aim to further streamline economic activities and cooperation within the union.
