Earthquakes Recorded in Turkey on August 28, 2026

On August 28, 2026, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory recorded several seismic events across the country and its surrounding waters. These recorded earthquakes, though generally minor, are part of the ongoing geological monitoring efforts.

The seismic activity included a 2.7 magnitude earthquake in the Sea of Marmara at 08:19:07 local time, followed by another 2.7 magnitude tremor in the Gulf of Gökova (Aegean Sea) at 08:17:51. Earlier in the morning, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake was registered near Yenidamlar-Kale in the Malatya region at 07:27:19.

Other recorded tremors on the same day included a 2.7 magnitude earthquake in the Aegean Sea near the Twelve Islands at 07:05:24, and another 2.4 magnitude event in the Sea of Marmara at 06:52:32. Smaller tremors were also detected near Akkoçali-Akhisar in Manisa (1.4 magnitude) and Yaylabayır-Sındırgı in Balıkesir (1.6 magnitude), along with a 2.0 magnitude earthquake near Dikmen-Biga in Çanakkale.
