East Java Police Arrest Two Couriers with 3.2 Kg Meth, Thousands of Ecstasy Pills

Malang Kota Police in East Java have apprehended two suspected drug couriers, identified as MS (24) and MR (25), who are allegedly involved in a cross-regional drug trafficking operation. The arrests were made at a rented house in Pare District, Kediri Regency, following an investigation that began with the capture of another dealer, ANH, on June 29th.

During the operation, police confiscated a significant quantity of narcotics: 3.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, packaged in green Chinese tea bags and plastic clips, along with 2,480 ecstasy pills stored in 24 separate packages. The drugs were reportedly distributed through a 'drop and collect' system, a method where couriers receive and deliver illicit substances without direct contact with the main supplier.

According to the Head of the Malang Kota Narcotics Unit, Kompol Hendro Triwahyono, the suspects were promised a reward of Rp10 million for every kilogram of methamphetamine or package of ecstasy they successfully trafficked. The network is believed to be controlled by a fugitive identified as FI, who is currently listed on the wanted persons list.

The police successfully seized all the illicit items before they could be distributed.

The Malang Kota Narcotics Unit is continuing its investigation to locate the fugitive FI. The arrested suspects, MR and MS, are being charged under Article 114, Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132, Paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, as well as related criminal provisions in Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code and Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning the Adjustment of Criminal Penalties. They face a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, life imprisonment, and/or a Category VI fine.
