Easy Exploration of Beiyi Highway: Free Weekend Shuttle Service Connects Key Attractions

Taoyuan City is enhancing its tourism offerings with the launch of a free shuttle bus service along the Northern Cross-Island Highway (Beiyi), starting July 4th. This initiative is designed to promote sustainable, low-carbon tourism and make the scenic route more accessible to visitors, particularly those without private vehicles, the elderly, and families.

The shuttle service will operate on national holidays and weekends, providing a seamless connection between major attractions including Jiaobanshan, Xiaowulai, and Luofu. Tourists arriving via public transport like the "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle" or city buses can transfer to the free shuttle at designated hubs, allowing for easy movement between these core scenic spots. This "last mile" solution aims to eliminate the need for visitors to arrange their own transportation or worry about parking within the popular tourist areas.

City officials highlighted the Beiyi Highway's world-class natural landscapes and indigenous culture as key draws. The shuttle service is a trial program aimed at strengthening the link between public transportation networks and tourist destinations. Visitors can spend their mornings exploring Jiaobanshan's image square and historical sites, enjoy the Xiaowulai Skywalk and cool off by the Yunei River in the afternoon, and experience indigenous crafts and hot springs in Luofu later in the day, all facilitated by the convenient shuttle.

For those driving, a "peripheral parking, core shuttle" system is in place. Drivers can park at designated lots, such as the Jièshòu Junior High School parking lot in Jiaobanshan, and then access the shuttle service to explore the core attractions without needing to navigate traffic or find parking within the scenic areas. The service is staffed with personnel to assist passengers, encouraging widespread use among tourists, students, and seniors seeking a relaxed and eco-friendly way to experience the beauty of the Beiyi Highway.
