PETALING JAYA, Malaysia – Singer and composer Yonnyboii believes that "easy listening" music has its own market and can compete with the dominant ballad songs in Malaysia's music industry.

Yonnyboii, whose real name is Muhammad Haqeem Nuriman Nor Azrin, stated that this type of music has unique advantages due to its simplicity and wide appeal. He noted that it makes it easier for songs to be well-received by local radio stations and digital streaming platforms.

Yonnyboii shared these thoughts at a press conference for "Sempurna" at Universal Music Malaysia. He acknowledged that while easy listening songs rarely win awards, their presence offers something new to the local music industry.

"Regarding awards, our industry might rarely highlight simple works. However, if one does, it will surely be a fresh piece," he said. "I'm not setting my hopes too high for that. I just hope people can feel relaxed and calm when listening to this kind of music."

He added that these songs allow listeners to simply enjoy them without deeply analyzing the lyrics, making them easily understandable, similar to the concept in Justin Bieber's songs. Yonnyboii first gained recognition for the song "Sakit" with Zynakal and is also known for solo works like "Salahku" and "Bayang."
