Ecuador's Judiciary Selects Temporary Judges for National Court

Ecuador's Council of the Judiciary has initiated a formal internal process to select temporary judges, aiming to enhance the operational capacity of the National Court of Justice. This move is intended to ensure the continuity of judicial services and address the growing caseload across the court's specialized chambers.

The selection will bring five new professionals into temporary roles. The Criminal, Penal Military, Penal Police, Transit, Corruption, and Organized Crime Chamber will receive three of these appointees. The Civil, Mercantile, Family, Childhood, Adolescence, and Juvenile Infraction Chamber will gain one, and the Labor Chamber will also receive one temporary judge.

This selection process is exclusively for incumbent judges serving in Provincial Courts of Justice throughout Ecuador. Candidates must meet stringent requirements for integrity and possess the necessary legal qualifications for the specific chambers they wish to join. The Council of the Judiciary will conduct thorough background checks, including verification of legal disqualifications and disciplinary records, to ensure the suitability of all applicants.
