Ecuador's World Cup hopes dashed again

Ecuador's national soccer team departs the World Cup with a lingering sense of disappointment, convinced they squandered a significant opportunity to achieve greatness. However, their performance in the United States was hampered by a lack of scoring, with veteran striker Enner Valencia, the team's all-time leading scorer, failing to find the net throughout the tournament.

Ecuador's only goal came in a crucial match against Germany, but it proved to be a fleeting moment. Following a challenging journey to Mexico City, which included a nine-hour travel time and disturbances from local fans at their hotel, the team was outplayed by the hosts. Beccacece conceded that his project had reached its conclusion. "We couldn't fulfill the feat we promised, which was to have our best World Cup, and therefore, obviously, due to the responsibility that entails, my contract ended once the World Cup finished, and the World Cup ended for Ecuador," he stated in the post-match press conference.
