Edenderry Garda station closed after gardaí become unwell while processing seized vapes

Edenderry Garda station has temporarily closed its doors after two officers fell ill while handling seized vape products. The incident occurred on Wednesday as the officers were processing vape items confiscated from a commercial property during an ongoing investigation.

Both officers were hospitalized and are currently under medical assessment, with expectations they will remain overnight. An Garda Síochána confirmed it is providing welfare support to the affected members and their families. The station is slated for specialist deep cleaning on Thursday, and local policing services are being managed from Tullamore Garda station.

While authorities do not suspect foul play, it is believed the officers may have been affected by fumes or leaks from the vape products as they were packaging them for evidence. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the force has stated it will not comment further until the inquiries conclude.
