Edo residents accuse real estate firm of failed land allocation

Several customers of the real estate firm Bliss Legacy are demanding refunds for plots of land they paid for but have not received, with some protests escalating to public displays.

I paid as instructed and was later asked to pay an additional fee for grading the land. Despite that, I didn’t get the land last year.

Anna Tuale, one of the aggrieved customers, initiated a viral one-person protest at the company's office in Benin City, Edo State. She seeks a refund of N2.35 million after paying for land in October 2025, which was promised with immediate allocation and possession within two weeks. Tuale reported that after paying an additional fee for grading, she was taken to the site in January 2026, only to find it undeveloped and inaccessible due to disputes with the host community. The company allegedly failed to resolve the issue or provide the land.

After I took possession, members of the host community prevented me from accessing the land. I reported the issue to the company, but nothing was done.

Fidelis Idehen and Faith Ofideh shared similar grievances. Idehen paid N1.6 million for one and a half plots in May 2023 and November 2024, respectively, but has yet to receive any allocation. Ofideh made daily payments for about three years to complete payment for a plot. Both were taken to the site in January 2026 and found it uncleared, with community members preventing development. They are now demanding refunds, with Idehen seeking N1.71 million and Ofideh also requesting her money back after the company failed to provide promised documentation or resolve the land access issues.
