Egypt, Poland Mull Expanding Food Security, Grain Trade Cooperation

Egypt and Poland are actively seeking to broaden their collaboration in critical areas of food security, agriculture, and grain trade. Talks held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, between Egypt's Minister of Supply, Sherif Farouk, and a Polish delegation led by Deputy Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Malgorzata Gromadzka, highlighted a mutual interest in strengthening these sectors.

The discussions centered on boosting bilateral trade of essential food commodities, with a particular emphasis on increasing Egyptian imports of Polish wheat. This aligns with Cairo's strategy to diversify its sources for strategic supplies, ensuring greater stability in its food reserves. Minister Farouk affirmed Egypt's commitment to forging robust partnerships to enhance national food security, pointing to the country's advanced grain storage facilities and ongoing efforts to secure commodity supplies.

Cooperation in silo construction and technology transfer was also a key topic, aiming to expand storage capacity and minimize grain losses. Gromadzka described Egypt as a vital strategic partner in the Middle East and Africa, expressing Poland's eagerness to deepen trade and investment ties.
