Egyptian, Qatari FMs meet on sidelines of ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held discussions in Amman on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting focused on Jerusalem.

The two ministers highlighted the strong Egyptian-Qatari relationship and the importance of preparing for the upcoming Egyptian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee meeting. This meeting is scheduled for August 20 in El Alamein and aims to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Regional developments were also a key topic. Both ministers stressed the need to end the war and de-escalate tensions between the United States and Iran. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining energy security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the latest situation in the Gaza Strip, particularly following the announcement of a roadmap for implementing US President Donald Trump's peace plan. Egypt and Qatar, along with other Arab and Islamic countries, stressed the necessity of continued coordination and Israel's fulfillment of its commitments to advance the plan's second phase.
