Eight identical luxury apartments listed for sale in Tainan complex housing former politician's clinic

A luxury residential complex in Tainan has become the subject of online discussion after eight identical apartments were listed for sale on a rental website. The "Chengmei Puzhen" complex, located on Wufui Street in the Zhongxi District, was one of Tainan's first developments to surpass the 400,000 New Taiwan dollar per ping mark and has seen prices continue to rise. The building notably houses a clinic previously operated by Chao Chien-ming, former President Chen Shui-bian's ex-son-in-law. The clinic's operations and a property gifted by Chen Hsing-chiu, Chen Shui-bian's daughter and Chao's ex-wife, have previously drawn public attention. The eight listings on the 591 rental website all pertain to the same 43.95 ping unit on the ninth floor, featuring three bedrooms, two living rooms, and two bathrooms. Each unit is priced at NT$23.98 million, equating to NT$545,600 per ping. While the identical listings, each attributed to a different real estate agent, have led some netizens to question if the sales are "urgent," real estate professionals note that multiple agents listing the same property to increase exposure is not unusual. However, the timing of these sales, coupled with the building's past associations, has fueled online speculation about the reasons behind the apparent rush to sell.
