El-Rufai Family Denies Authenticity of Letter to ADC Leadership

The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has publicly disowned a letter circulating on social media, labeling it a fake and a fabrication. The document, purportedly addressed to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has been dismissed as not originating from the former governor.

The former Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), former Minister of the Federal Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, CON wishes to alert the public that a fake letter is in circulation, purported to have been signed by him, titled Urgent Message.

Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, speaking on behalf of the family, issued a statement on Thursday clarifying that the letter, titled "Urgent Message" and dated July 14, 2026, is spurious. He urged the public to disregard the document, which was allegedly sent to the ADC's National Chairman and National Secretary. The statement explicitly stated that neither the content nor the handwriting in the letter belongs to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

Neither the poor content nor the handwriting has anything to do with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

"The former Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, CON, wishes to alert the public that a fake letter is in circulation, purported to have been signed by him, titled Urgent Message," the statement read. The family accused those behind the letter of attempting to create confusion and division, describing the act as "an instance of the most primitive politics."

The circulating letter reportedly raised questions about the emergence of Isah Ashiru as the ADC's governorship candidate in Kaduna State. It claimed Ashiru's nomination caused internal tensions because he allegedly failed to complete the party's online membership registration by the April 30, 2026 deadline, which it described as a constitutional requirement. The purported document urged the ADC's national and state leadership to intervene. However, El-Rufai's family reiterated that the former governor has no connection to the letter and urged the public to reject it.
