North-East leaders endorse Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, pledge zone support

Political leaders, elder statesmen, and stakeholders from Nigeria's North-East region have officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for his 2027 re-election bid. The prominent figures converged at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to express their unwavering support, vowing to mobilize widespread grassroots backing for both Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

We are here for one overriding purpose, to show our appreciation and thank you most profoundly for the re-nomination of an accomplished son of our region, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, as your vice-presidential running mate in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.

The delegation, led by Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, praised the Tinubu administration for its ongoing infrastructure projects, security initiatives, and economic reforms. They stated these efforts are beginning to transform the North-East, a region long affected by insurgency and neglect.

Governor Zulum, speaking on behalf of the delegation, described the visit as an expression of appreciation and renewed political commitment. He specifically lauded President Tinubu's decision to retain Senator Kashim Shettima, an indigene of the North-East, as his vice-presidential running mate. Zulum emphasized that this choice demonstrates confidence in the region and recognizes loyalty, competence, and dedicated service, strengthening the North-East's connection to the administration.

Beyond political endorsements, the delegation commended the Federal Government's tangible interventions across the region. Projects such as the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Expressway, investments in agriculture and education, youth empowerment programs, and the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) were cited as evidence of the administration's commitment to rebuilding the North-East. The leaders assured the President of the region's continued support and loyalty.
