Elderly Woman Dies After Car Crashes, Flips, and Hits Pole in Taiwan

A 77-year-old woman has died following a severe car accident in Miaoli County, Taiwan. The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 30th on the southbound lane of Provincial Highway 1 in the Zaociao Township. The woman, identified as a local resident who frequently drove for leisure, was operating her vehicle when it veered off the road.

Surveillance footage captured the car colliding with the outer guardrail on a curve. The impact caused the vehicle to become airborne, flip over, and subsequently strike a utility pole and a traffic signal pole, causing significant damage. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene after reports of a person trapped inside the vehicle.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the driver. During the rescue operation, the car's engine compartment caught fire, which was extinguished by firefighters. Although the woman was rescued and initially revived at the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries due to the severity of her trauma. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash.
