Electrica Launches Romania's First AI-Based Energy Management System for Buildings

Electrica is spearheading a technological leap in Romania's energy sector with the launch of AIAE, the nation's first artificial intelligence-powered energy management system for buildings. Developed in partnership with Romanian startup Renergia and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, this innovative platform promises to revolutionize how buildings consume energy. AIAE moves beyond simple monitoring, acting as a virtual energy manager that analyzes vast datasets—over 48 million data sets processed—to optimize consumption in real-time. This sophisticated system identifies consumption patterns, detects anomalies, and generates automated recommendations, leading to enhanced control, predictability, and operational performance. The project's depth is underscored by its extensive development, involving over a million lines of code and a dedicated research component that nurtured young specialists in energy and AI.
