Elyounoussi continues scoring streak as FCK cruises to Conference League playoff

FC Copenhagen secured an effortless passage to the decisive playoff round for the Conference League, crushing Hungarian side Debrecen 8-1 on aggregate. After a 3-0 away victory, FCK completed the job with a resounding 5-1 win in the home return leg.

Mohamed Elyounoussi was the star, netting the first two goals, both assisted by a lively Robert Silva. Elyounoussi's brace brought his season tally to an impressive seven goals in just six matches across all competitions. Only one more two-legged tie now stands between FCK and a place in the group stage of Europe's third-tier club competition.

Any hopes Debrecen harbored for a dramatic comeback were extinguished early. Within three minutes, the skillful Robert Silva broke down the left flank, delivering a cross that found an unmarked Elyounoussi, who simply tapped it in. FCK coach Bo Svensson also handed a debut to 21-year-old Hungarian center-back Akos Markgraf, who made a positive impression, albeit against limited opposition.

Debrecen offered little threat to the Danish favorites, who dominated from the outset. Only a lack of sharpness in the final actions prevented FCK from extending their lead before halftime. The superiority seemed to make the FCK players a bit complacent at the start of the second half, with slow play and loose marking. Debrecen capitalized on this lapse when Balázs Dzsudzsák equalized in the 48th minute.

FCK quickly regained control, and ten minutes after the equalizer, Elyounoussi converted a penalty earned by Robert Silva. This goal effectively ended the contest. The Hungarian side had no further response, and both Alex Kral and Andreas Cornelius added goals in the closing stages, with Cornelius scoring twice.
