Emigration Center in Hofsós Celebrates 30 Years of Preserving History

The Emigration Center in Hofsós, located by the harbor, is marking its 30th anniversary today with a special event at the community center Höfðaborg. This milestone celebrates three decades of preserving and sharing the history of Icelandic emigration.

Valgeir Þorvaldsson, chairman of the Emigration Center, stated that the gathering is an opportunity for the center's supporters to come together and commemorate this significant occasion. "We will meet, celebrate together, and recall old and enjoyable memories, which have naturally become quite numerous after such a long time," he told Morgunblaðið.

Þorvaldsson anticipates that around a hundred people will attend the celebration. The event is scheduled to include speeches, entertainment, a review of the center's history, and singing. The program aims to honor the center's past achievements and the stories of those who emigrated.
