Emirates launches war-inclusive travel insurance

Emirates airline is introducing an innovative travel insurance policy, Comprehensive Travel Cover, designed to provide passengers with extensive protection, including coverage for medical expenses arising from war-related incidents. This new offering marks Emirates as the first airline globally to include such comprehensive coverage.

Customers can now feel safe when planning flights and traveling. They gain protection from the moment of booking, as the insurance allows them to benefit from medical care, provided through cooperation with Travel Guard. They will also receive additional support from Emirates in the event of disruptions.

The policy addresses growing concerns about travel disruptions, particularly those linked to geopolitical instability and conflicts. Beyond medical costs, the insurance ensures passengers receive organized hotel accommodation and support if their travel is extended due to flight cancellations or airspace closures. For passengers whose journeys involve other airlines or unavailable Emirates services, the carrier guarantees a free rebooking to their destination, even if flights are canceled due to unstable geopolitical situations.

Emirates President Tim Clark stated that the airline recognized a market gap for comprehensive travel insurance and responded to customer demand. "Our customers, who are booking summer flights to and through Dubai in large numbers, can now feel truly secure when planning their journeys," Clark said. The airline collaborated with Travel Guard to develop this enhanced insurance package, which offers medical care, emergency evacuation, and assistance.

We listen to our customers' feedback and realized that interest in travel is really high, but there is a lack of comprehensive travel insurance on the market. That's why we took action to meet customer needs. Together with Travel Guard, Emirates has created an improved insurance package that covers many services and guarantees safety in various situations.

Comprehensive Travel Cover includes protection for trip cancellations, compensation for flight delays, lost baggage, and unlimited medical expense coverage worldwide, up to $25,000. It also allows for travel extensions of up to 30 days. The insurance can be purchased during flight booking or added later via the "Manage Your Booking" section on the Emirates website.
