Emmy Nominations 2026: 'Hacks' and 'The Pitt' Triumph with 24 and 25 Nods

The race for the 78th Emmy Awards is heating up, with "The Pitt" leading the pack with a remarkable 25 nominations, announced on July 8. This HBO Max series significantly increased its haul from last year's 13 nominations, securing a strong presence across acting categories. Hot on its heels is "Hacks," which garnered 24 nominations, breaking the comedy series record previously held by "The Studio" and "The Bear." The show's fifth and final season on HBO Max is considered a frontrunner, with its star Jean Smart also receiving a nomination.

"La maldición de Widow’s Bay" emerged as a surprise contender with 19 nominations, despite its final three episodes not being eligible for voting. "Pluribus" follows with 18 nominations, and the miniseries "Beef" earned 16 nods. Meanwhile, highly anticipated final seasons of "Euphoria" and "Stranger Things" each received seven nominations.

In the prestigious drama category, nominees include "The Pitt," "Pluribus," "El caballero de los siete reinos," "La diplomática," "La edad dorada," "Paradise," "Slow Horses," and the unexpected entry "Vicios ocultos." The comedy category features "Colegio Abbott," "The Bear," "Hacks," "Margot tiene problemas de dinero," "Nadie quiere esto," "Solo asesinatos en el edificio," "Shrinking," and "La maldición de Widow’s Bay." The latter also earned a double nomination for actor Matthew Rhys.

Michelle Pfeiffer received her second career Emmy nomination for her role as the mother in "Margot tiene problemas de dinero," a role that also secured a nomination for Elle Fanning. Pfeiffer's previous nomination was in 2017 for "The Wizard of Lies."
