EmpleaPy Joven offers incentives to Paraguayan small businesses hiring young workers

Paraguay’s Labor, Employment and Social Security Ministry is offering small businesses a financial incentive to hire young people entering the formal workforce.

Under the EmpleaPy Joven program, the state will cover up to 18 percent of employers’ contributions to the Social Security Institute, or IPS. The initiative targets people aged 18 to 29 who are seeking their first work experience and connects them with micro, small and medium-sized businesses in Paraguay.

The ministry says the program can help companies reduce employment costs while bringing new talent into their teams. It also provides support for technical training and for the young employee’s adjustment to the new job.

To qualify, a business must employ no more than 50 workers and demonstrate at least one year of commercial activity. It must also be fully formalized and up to date with the National Tax Revenue Directorate, IPS and the Labor Ministry.
