Encarnación opens 'Tesoros de Itapúa' craft store

Encarnación, Paraguay, has welcomed the opening of the "Tesoros de Itapúa" craft store, a new initiative by the Itapúa Governorate. Situated in the Commercial Circuit near the international bridge, the store is dedicated to showcasing and selling distinctive artisan products and crafts from the Itapúa department.

The "Tesoros de Itapúa" initiative, developed in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the territorial and cultural development project "Tesoro Añua," aims to highlight the region's gastronomic, ancestral, and productive identity. Initially, the featured "Treasures of Itapúa" include yerba mate, the Mbya Guaraní Jesuit legacy, Chipa Bogadense, honey, and rice, each representing key aspects of the department's culture and economy.

Beyond offering local products, the store will serve as a tourist information hub. This is particularly relevant as Encarnación prepares to host the World Rally Championship, an event anticipated to attract over 400,000 visitors. The store's location and services are designed to guide tourists and promote the region's offerings.

Products are carefully selected based on quality standards and their representation of local traditions. The store operates Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The initiative plans to expand its collection to include more regional riches from various districts, with carrots from Tomás Romero Pereira being the next planned addition.
