End of 6x1: Fecomercio-MG presents hourly hiring proposal to presidential candidates

The Federation of Trade in Goods, Services, and Tourism of Minas Gerais (Fecomercio-MG) has introduced a novel hiring model called "Work/Hour with Guaranteed Rights" (THDG) to address the end of the 6x1 work schedule. This proposal, presented to presidential candidates and lawmakers, defines workdays based on hours, agreed upon by both employee and employer.

According to Fecomercio-MG, the THDG model preserves formal employment status, including FGTS, vacation, and the 13th salary, with these rights being paid and collected monthly in advance. The proposal received attention from Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), former governors Romeu Zema (Novo) and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), and Representative Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG), a proponent of ending the 6x1 system.

Fecomercio-MG President Nadim Donato believes the project can significantly combat labor informality, enabling individuals currently outside the formal market to gain CLT protections. He highlighted its appeal to various demographics, including seniors seeking reduced workloads, women desiring more flexibility, and younger individuals valuing personal time. The federation anticipates the model will spur job growth, reduce informal work, and decrease absenteeism by offering predictable, flexible hours that enhance worker satisfaction and productivity.

Donato further explained that the THDG model grants workers greater autonomy over their income and time, allowing for multiple employment relationships. As an incentive, it includes a 15% bonus on the standard hourly rate of the category's minimum wage, alongside the advance monthly payment of rights. A weekly hour limit per company is also part of the plan. Fecomércio-MG emphasizes that THDG is an additional option, not a replacement for existing contracts, and requires congressional approval for CLT amendments.
