Entel launches 'Bolivia Cibersegura' initiative to boost cybersecurity

State-owned telecommunications company Entel, in collaboration with the Agency of E-Government and ICT (Agetic) and the Telecommunications and Transport Regulation and Fiscalization Authority (ATT), has launched "Bolivia Cibersegura 2026." This national initiative aims to significantly bolster cybersecurity across the country.

In Bolivia, we have a great deal of work to do in cybersecurity, and we have the infrastructure conditions to do it.

Claudio Balderas, head of Solutions at Entel, explained that the program seeks to establish a regulatory framework and a national cybersecurity policy. This policy will serve as a reference for both governmental and private entities, guiding them in handling incidents and developing their own security measures. "In Bolivia, we have a great deal of work to do in cybersecurity, and we have the infrastructure conditions to do it," Balderas stated.

Entel is leading and coordinating with ATT and Agetic an initiative on cybersecurity to have a regulatory framework and a cybersecurity policy in Bolivia, which will obviously serve as a reference framework for all governmental and private entities to handle incidents, events, and have their own cybersecurity policies.

The "Bolivia Cibersegura 2026" initiative extends beyond policy, offering a portfolio of solutions from Entel designed to protect users at various levels. These solutions cover everything from securing offices and devices to safeguarding basic information. Balderas emphasized that cybersecurity is essential regardless of how users connect, whether via phone, computer, or any internet connection, ensuring a secure parameter for all.

Cybersecurity is not only applied to the device, but it is applied from anywhere the user can connect, whether by phone, computer, or any internet connection, to have a security parameter. In this sense, as I told you, Entel will be able to offer a portfolio of solutions to meet the different needs that the user has.

Henry Hoyos, president of the Bolivian Blockchain Chamber, underscored the importance of Entel's efforts, particularly in protecting national infrastructure as a first step before extending protection to all Bolivians. He highlighted the program's focus on safeguarding children from threats such as cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and cybergrooming, referencing projects like the Children Internet Protection Act (CIPA) to ensure minors accessing the internet, especially through school connections, are protected.
