Entertainer Shao Xin's Son Accused of Online Scams; Star's Own Controversies Resurface

Taiwanese entertainer Shao Xin, now known as Shao Xiao-dong, is facing renewed scrutiny following accusations that his son, Shao Yi-xiang, engaged in online deception to obtain free meals and drinks. Reports indicate that Shao Yi-xiang also allegedly threatened the victims and their families when his actions were exposed.

This latest controversy adds to Shao Xin's own checkered past, which has frequently landed him in the media spotlight for negative reasons since his acting debut in 1992. His history includes a conviction for stock market manipulation, tumultuous disputes with his ex-wife Ting Ting, and multiple instances of drunk driving.

In 2011, Shao Xin was implicated in a stock manipulation scheme involving Shuo Tian Technology, allegedly defrauding investors of NT$850 million (approximately $27 million USD). In 2019, he received a two-year prison sentence, suspended for four years, for violating securities laws. More recently, in March 2018, he was caught driving under the influence in Taipei. He reached a plea agreement in June of that year, which involved donating 1,000 packs of beef noodle soup to disadvantaged groups in exchange for a deferred prosecution.

The current allegations against his son, Shao Yi-xiang, have led to victims forming an alliance to report the alleged threats and deception, further tarnishing the family's public image.
