NCC leases Digital Park to Enugu State to boost AI and digital economy

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has entered into a strategic 15-year lease agreement with the Enugu State Government, a move poised to significantly bolster President Bola Tinubu's digital economy agenda. The NCC's Digital Industrial Park and Learning Centre, located in the state capital, will be transformed into the Enugu Talent City and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Institute.

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, emphasized that this partnership fully supports the administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda" and its ambition to grow Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy. He highlighted Governor Peter Mbah's commitment to developing Enugu State into a digital economic powerhouse through dedicated investments in education, infrastructure, innovation, and digital capacity.

Our expectation is that this partnership will support Enugu’s ambition to become a leading destination for digital services, artificial intelligence, startup incubation, outsourcing, research and technology-enabled enterprise.

Maida expressed expectations that the facility will become a hub for digital services, AI development, startup incubation, and technology-enabled enterprises. It is envisioned as a space where young people can acquire essential skills, entrepreneurs can develop their ideas into viable businesses, and local companies can access opportunities beyond Enugu and Nigeria.

The NCC CEO further noted that these facilities were designed not just as physical assets but as platforms for developing human capital and fostering innovation. He commended Governor Mbah's "Smart Green Schools" initiative, recognizing its importance in preparing the younger generation for the future through technology-enabled learning and digital facilities.
