EPL: Tielemans apologises to Villa fans over Man United comments

Manchester United midfielder Youri Tielemans has issued an apology to Aston Villa supporters following criticism over his recent remarks comparing the two clubs.

Tielemans, who recently transferred from Villa to United, had commented that while he respected his former club and was grateful for his three years there, "There are clubs above Villa, and Manchester United is one of them." This statement did not sit well with some Villa fans, leading to the apology.

He acknowledged his mistake, promising to be more cautious with his wording in the future and wishing the club well.

I must, however, admit my mistake and apologise for my choice of words, will be more careful in the future.

During his tenure at Villa, Tielemans made 134 appearances and scored 10 goals after joining from Leicester City. His move to Manchester United marks a new chapter in his career, and he sought to clarify that his comments were not intended to diminish Villa's contribution to his career development.

The apology comes as both clubs are preparing for their final pre-season matches before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
