Eppu Normaali's Farewell Tour Kicks Off, Fans Bid Emotional Goodbye

The final concert tour of the beloved Finnish rock band Eppu Normaali has begun, drawing emotional fans from across the country to its opening show in Helsinki. For many, the tour signifies the end of an era, with the band's decision to cease live performances marking a poignant moment.

Fans like Tiina Lehtonen, who traveled from Lohja with her family and friends, described the concert as "the end of an era." Lehtonen shared cherished memories of attending Eppu Normaali concerts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, recalling the youthful energy of "screaming after them."

Others, like Hekla Hoimu, discovered the band more recently through the "Risto Räppääjä" film and the Singstar game. Hoimu, who attended the concert with her aunt, cited "Tahroja paperilla" as their favorite song, calling it "iconic."

For the Kinnunen couple from Kuopio, Eppu Normaali has been a constant presence since the mid-1980s. Meija Kinnunen noted, "I grew up with Eppuja. Early in our relationship, we quickly realized that fans find each other." They plan to attend at least two more shows on the tour.

Despite the sadness of the band's retirement from touring, some fans understand the decision. Sari Hihnala remarked, "It's a shame they're stopping touring, but they are old men now." The tour promises to be a series of heartfelt farewells for a band that has soundtracked the lives of generations of Finns.
