Erdogan: Turkey Will Thwart Plots Against Brotherhood Among Turks, Kurds, and Arabs

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pledged to counter efforts aimed at disrupting the unity between Turks, Kurds, and Arabs, framing this commitment within a broader initiative to disarm the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Erdogan reaffirmed his dedication to the "Terror-Free Türkiye" process, which he described as a path to eradicating terrorism and fostering peace and stability.

Speaking at the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert, Erdogan asserted that the success of this process would undermine those who profit from terrorism and seek to destabilize the region. He drew a parallel to historical struggles, suggesting that just as the Seljuks defeated the Byzantines, this modern initiative would usher in an era of "humanity, brotherhood, peace and stability." In a veiled reference to Israel, following recent attacks near the Turkish border and criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Erdogan declared that external actions would not deter Turkey from its path or prevent the embrace of Turks, Kurds, and Arabs.

Complementing these remarks, the Turkish presidency’s Center for Countering Disinformation issued a statement warning of a deliberate, foreign-backed psychological campaign targeting the nation's social unity. The center urged citizens to exercise vigilance against malicious content and to rely solely on official sources.

The Turkish government is actively pursuing the disarmament of the PKK through a multi-faceted approach. The Monitoring, Evaluation and Coordination Council has established four committees to oversee this process. Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz chaired the council's first meeting, emphasizing that the "historic" initiative aims to eliminate terrorism and violence, fostering brotherhood. The recent adoption of Law No. 7595, "Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration," signed by Erdogan, is seen as a key pillar of the "Century of Türkiye" vision, intended to enhance internal cohesion and transform the region into an "oasis of peace, prosperity and security."
