Erlend Mørch Awarded Prestigious Arne Hestenes Journalism Prize

Erlend Mørch, known for his work as a comedian, series creator, and journalist, has received the prestigious Arne Hestenes Journalism Prize for 2026. The award was presented during a press dinner at Haugesund City Hall, coinciding with the Norwegian Film Festival.

The jury specifically highlighted Mørch's exceptional interviewing skills and his unique talent for integrating political, social, and cultural commentary with humor. They noted that Mørch deviates from the traditional journalist mold, also being a comedian, scriptwriter, and program host who has appeared on reality television and had his own animated series on NRK.

Described by the jury as someone who dares to ask questions other journalists might shy away from, Mørch's podcasts are characterized as curious, intelligent, irreverent, and bold. His journalistic work includes covering multiple parliamentary elections for NRK and recently reporting on the FIFA World Cup for his podcast "Mørch og VM."

Upon receiving the award, Mørch shared his enthusiasm, stating, "I love to win. The Hestenes Prize is my second journalism award, and I am aiming for at least two more before I stop." He added that the prize provides motivation to continue working hard, emphasizing a commitment to reading, learning, and listening, but never lecturing. The Arne Hestenes Journalism Prize, established in 1993, includes a diploma designed by Finn Graff and a cash award of 30,000 Norwegian kroner.
