Estonia's last European Championship qualifier, long jumper Liisa-Maria Lusti, weighs risk for good result

Long jumper Liisa-Maria Lusti will make her debut at the senior European Championships after qualifying as the final Estonian athlete for the event. The 21-year-old discovered her inclusion in the championships after checking the rankings one morning.

Lusti, who will celebrate her 22nd birthday soon, had to rely on the performances of other athletes to secure her spot. While she improved her personal best to 6.63 meters during the indoor season, her outdoor jumps have consistently fallen short by 20-30 centimeters. At the Estonian Championships on July 26, she won the event, but her jump of 6.36 meters did not significantly boost her ranking points.

Despite the challenges in outdoor performance, Lusti's qualification marks a significant milestone in her athletic career. The European Championships present a major opportunity for her to compete against top international talent and gain valuable experience on a global stage.
