Estonia's "Žalgiris" system talent punishes Lithuania's 18-year-olds

Lithuania's U18 basketball team suffered a defeat against Estonia, ultimately losing control of the game in the second half. After a balanced first quarter, Lithuania trailed by only two points (22:24). They managed to take the lead before halftime, ending the second quarter up 37:35.

However, Estonia seized the initiative after the break, winning the third quarter 23:17. In the decisive fourth quarter, Lithuania struggled to regain momentum, falling behind by as much as 16 points. They managed to score only 15 points in the final ten minutes.

A key difference in the game was three-point shooting. Estonia converted 37.9% of their long-range attempts, while Lithuania hit only 22.2%. Lithuania's overall field goal percentage was a mere 34%.

Stenas Markusas Adamsonas, a 203 cm tall Estonian player well-acquainted with the Kaunas "Žalgiris" system, proved to be the most effective player on the court, scoring 28 points. For Lithuania, Tauris Aliukonis stood out with 16 points. Prior to this match, Lithuania had defeated Austria 84:68, securing their place in Division A of the European Championship. The team will conclude the tournament competing for 11th place.
