Estudiantes signs Megan Nestor, NCAA's top rebounder

Spanish basketball club Movistar Estudiantes has secured the signing of Megan Nestor, a 23-year-old pivot who led the U.S. university league (NCAA) in rebounds last season.

Nestor, standing at 1.90 meters tall and hailing from the Caribbean island of Santa Lucia, joins the club after participating in the training camp with the WNBA's Chicago Sky. During her time with the University of North Texas, she averaged an impressive 12.8 points and 14.1 rebounds per game. Her exceptional performance earned her the American Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year award, alongside selections to the conference's first team, defensive team, and all-freshman team.

Estudiantes coach Isaac Fernández expressed confidence in Nestor's potential, acknowledging that she might need time to adjust to the league. "We believe she has very good qualities and that her performance will be very high," Fernández stated, highlighting the club's expectations for the new signing.

Nestor becomes the tenth addition to Movistar Estudiantes for the upcoming season. She joins Carla Osma, Irati Etxarri, Isa Latorre, Kristina Topuzovic, Laia Lamana, Jessica Féquière, Gisela Sánchez, Kendall Cooper, and Júlia Soler as the team prepares for its campaign. This signing marks Nestor's first professional experience in Europe.
