EU Implements Tariff Exemptions for US Goods, Fulfilling Trump Deal Promises

The European Union has begun exempting US industrial goods from tariffs, fulfilling promises made under a trade deal with former US President Donald Trump. This adjustment is part of an agreement designed to ease trade tensions and improve market access for specific American products.

To ensure US compliance, the trade facilitation rules for the US are linked to a safeguard mechanism. This allows the EU to suspend tariff concessions if the US violates the agreement. The deal has a fixed expiration date of December 31, 2029, with a comprehensive review by the EU Commission due by June 30, 2029, to assess the impact and consider extending the concessions.
