Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting begins in Cholpon-Ata

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIC) has convened in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, marking a significant step in the country's chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The meeting brings together key government leaders from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister, Adylbek Kasymaliev, opened the session, expressing hope that the "joint work will give our countries confidence in the future, take integration processes within the Union to a new level, and become the key to sustainable economic growth and improved well-being." The council's deliberations are proceeding in both narrow and expanded formats.

Discussions are centered on advancing Eurasian economic integration. Key topics include removing obstacles to mutual trade, implementing collaborative projects in vital sectors such as industry, energy, and transport, and accelerating digitalization efforts across the Union. Other cooperative issues within the EAEU framework are also on the agenda.

Several documents are expected to be signed during the meeting. Additionally, the heads of government are scheduled to meet with Kyrgyzstan's President, Sadyr Japarov. The broader session of the Eurasian Economic Council is set to continue on Friday, following the Intergovernmental Council's proceedings.
