European bestseller Dacia Sandero now available as a hybrid, promises 4 liters per 100 km

Dacia is bringing its hybrid technology to the Sandero, a model that has been the top-selling car for individual customers in Europe since 2017. This expansion signifies a major step in Dacia's electrification strategy, as the Sandero is one of the brand's highest-volume models.

The new Sandero hybrid 155 boasts a combined system output of 155 horsepower. It utilizes a 1.8-liter gasoline engine producing 109 horsepower, two electric motors (one with 49 horsepower), and a 1.4 kWh traction battery. The system is paired with an automatic transmission that features four speeds for the combustion engine and two for the electric motor, eliminating the need for a traditional clutch. The car is designed to start in electric mode, and its regenerative braking system allows for up to 80% of city driving to be completed on electric power.

According to Dacia, the Sandero hybrid 155 is rated to consume 4.2 liters per 100 km, a figure the manufacturer claims is up to 40% lower than a comparable gasoline version. The full hybrid system does not require external charging, aligning with the Sandero's philosophy of providing practical and efficient transportation without added complexity for the owner.

Dacia's journey towards hybridizing its lineup began in 2023 with the Jogger, followed by the Duster in 2024. The Bigster is set to receive the hybrid 155 system in 2025. The introduction of the hybrid powertrain to the Sandero and Sandero Stepway marks a significant milestone, given the model's substantial sales volume. Beyond the hybrid option, the Sandero range will continue to offer TCe 100, TCe 110, and Eco-G 120 (bi-fuel LPG) engines. The Sandero hybrid 155 starts at 84,600 PLN.
