Eurovision 2027 to be held in Bulgarian seaside resort Burgas

Burgas, a Bulgarian Black Sea resort town, will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027, following Bulgaria's victory in the 2026 competition by singer Dara. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced the decision, selecting Burgas over the capital city, Sofia.

The EBU cited Burgas's "convincing overall package" as the reason for its selection. This package included the necessary venue and technical potential, accommodation capacity, transport links, and international connectivity. The town also demonstrated strong community engagement and a clear vision to integrate the entire city into the Eurovision experience. The Arena Burgas, opened in 2023 and capable of hosting up to 15,000 spectators, will serve as the main venue.

Bulgaria's fourth-largest city, with a population of approximately 190,000, is known for its beaches and its status as the country's only crude oil port. The selection process involved an international working group evaluating the proposals from competing Bulgarian cities. The host broadcaster, BNT, also plans to involve other applicant cities, including Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna, in the broader Eurovision festivities.
