Evacuation Order Expanded for Quilpituk Creek Wildfire Near Kelowna

Authorities have expanded an evacuation order and issued a new alert in the Kelowna area as the Quilpituk Creek wildfire continues to grow. Residents in the Shelter Cove, Secret Point, and Cinnabar Creek areas are now under a mandatory evacuation order and must leave their properties immediately.

The Central Okanagan Emergency Management had previously warned that the alert for these areas might escalate to an order. The designated evacuation route for those affected is south on Westside Road. The Quilpituk Creek fire is currently estimated to have burned 742 hectares.

Additionally, an evacuation alert has been issued for properties south of Cinnabar Creek, encompassing the Wilson's Landing area and adjacent rural areas to the west. This alert covers a specific range of addresses along North Westside Road, as well as several named localities. However, the parcel east of Bald Range Creek, already under an evacuation order, is not included in this new alert.
