Eveliina Salonen dominates women's field at disc golf worlds

Finnish disc golfer Eveliina Salonen is in dominant form at the World Championships, holding a substantial eight-stroke lead in the women's division after completing three rounds. Salonen delivered an impressive performance on Friday, achieving the best round score of -7, which propelled her total score to an outstanding 21 under par.

Her closest competitors are currently Missy Gannon of the United States at -13 and Rebecca Don of Canada at -12. Don expressed admiration for Salonen's performance, stating, "Eveliina is just crazy! She is so good." With two rounds remaining, Salonen is now the clear favorite to claim the championship title, a feat she accomplished two years ago.

Beyond Salonen's leading performance, other Finnish athletes are also making strong showings. The 16-year-old Iida Lehtomäki is well-positioned in a tie for fourth place at -8. Silva Saarinen and Olivia Kindstedt are also within the top ten, both at 6 under par.

In the open division, Finnish player Daniel Davidsson faced challenges, dropping from a tie for fourth to a tie for 15th place at -7 after the second round. The leading American player, Jake Monn, is eight strokes ahead of Davidsson. Rasmus Saukkoriipi is the top-ranked Finn in the open division, currently tied for fifth place at -11. The third round for the open division was scheduled for later on Friday. The championships are being held near Detroit, USA, and will conclude on Sunday.
