Everton snatch draw as United drop points despite dream start

Manchester United appeared to have secured victory at Everton after Benjamin Sesko headed the visitors ahead in the 88th minute. But Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck spectacularly in stoppage time to earn Everton a 2-2 draw.

United started strongly and created good chances early on. Bruno Fernandes came closest when he hit the crossbar from inside the penalty area. Everton's Thierno Barry headed over from close range late in the first half, leaving the teams level at 0-0.

United took the lead just over a minute into the second half. Bryan Mbeumo worked past several Everton defenders and fired a precise shot from just outside the penalty area. Open chances then became difficult to create, and the visitors held their advantage until the 83rd minute.

Everton substitute Tyrique George equalized with an excellent shot from a tight angle on the right side of the box. United goalkeeper Senne Lammens could have done better. United quickly responded, with substitute Benjamin Sesko heading in Luke Shaw's cross four minutes from time.

The visitors looked set for the winning goal until Maitland-Niles, making his Everton debut, met the ball 20 meters out and sent it into the top corner in the sixth minute of added time. The match finished 2-2.
