Ex-Congresswoman's $3.9 Million Salary Sparks Outcry in Chilean Municipality

Former congresswoman Claudia Mix has been hired as an advisor in the municipality of Calle Larga, a position that has drawn criticism due to her substantial salary. In July, Mix received a gross salary of $3.9 million pesos, which has been broadly labeled as "disproportionate."

Information obtained through Transparency Law confirmed that Mix, who previously served as a congresswoman for the Metropolitan Region, began her role in the municipality located in the Valparaíso region. While her initial contract was for $2.339 million pesos on a fee-for-service basis, her salary in July significantly increased.

The hiring and salary have sparked controversy, with transversal criticism labeling the payment as excessive for the role. The municipality's decision to hire Mix at this salary level has raised questions about public fund allocation and hiring practices.
