Ex-DEA Chief Uses AI Video to Mock Mexican Governor Over Cartel Allegations

Derek Maltz, the former interim chief of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has released an AI-generated video that mocks Rubén Rocha Moya, the acting governor of Sinaloa, Mexico. The video, published on Maltz's X account, features a fake depiction of Rocha Moya speaking with a sarcastic tone.

"See you soon in the United States, maybe I can stay with 'El Chapo'," the AI-generated voice says, with a Mexican flag in the background. Maltz used the video to amplify his accusations that Rocha Moya has allegedly conspired with leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel. Maltz claims the governor facilitated the introduction of "massive quantities of narcotics into the United States in exchange for political support and bribes."

This development follows a controversy surrounding Rocha Moya's return to his post and his temporary departure from the Morena party. The accusations from the U.S. have led to significant political repercussions within Sinaloa. Rocha Moya initially requested a temporary leave of absence, then returned to his duties for a brief 33-hour period, only to request a second leave.
