Ex-Gombe gov Goje reaffirms APC membership

Senator Danjuma Goje, a former governor of Gombe State, has firmly dismissed rumors of his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing hundreds of supporters who visited his residence to inquire about his political future ahead of the 2027 general elections, Goje reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling party.

I have not defected to any political party. As a founding member of the APC, I remain a member of the party.

Goje, who identifies as a founding member of the APC, urged his constituents from Gombe Central and surrounding areas to maintain their loyalty. "I have not defected to any political party. As a founding member of the APC, I remain a member of the party," he stated. He explained that at this stage of his life and career, defecting to another party solely to contest for the Senate would be inappropriate, though he acknowledged a different scenario might apply if he were seeking a higher office.

Reflecting on his extensive political journey spanning nearly 45 years, Goje highlighted his consistent electoral success, having contested and won eight times. His career includes serving as a member of a State House of Assembly, a two-term governor, and five-time senator, with ministerial experience between 1999 and 2001. He recalled initially retiring from politics in 2019 but was persuaded by supporters to contest the 2023 Senate election, which he won without actively campaigning, expressing deep gratitude for their unwavering loyalty.

Given my years of service and the positions I have held in the country, it would be inappropriate for me, at this stage of my life, to decamp to another party simply to contest for the Senate.

Goje assured his supporters that his empowerment initiatives would continue regardless of his political status. This clarification addresses growing political consultations and activities as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections.

Therefore, I am urging all my supporters across Gombe and beyond to cooperate with our leaders and remain loyal to the party. This is our house. We built it, and we will continue to work for its success.
