Ex IGP Adamu empowers Nasarawa farmers, urges politicians to support food production

Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, a former Inspector-General of Police and current governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, is spearheading an agricultural empowerment program aimed at tackling food insecurity and poverty. The initiative focuses on supporting farmers with modern equipment and inputs to enhance food production.

During the launch event in Karu, Adamu distributed items such as tricycles, soil-tilling machines, herbicides, fertilizers, and sprayers to hundreds of beneficiaries. He stressed the importance of introducing modern farming methods to increase yields and improve the livelihoods of farmers across the state's western zone. Adamu highlighted that despite Nasarawa's predominantly agrarian nature, farmers face challenges with outdated equipment and low-crop yields.

We are not just here to support and empower our farmers but to introduce them to modern farming methods and implements that will aid in the production of more food for our people. We are empowering our farmers for increased food production and sustainable livelihoods.

Adamu appealed to politicians and individuals with resources to invest in agriculture, emphasizing that increased food production would lead to lower prices and greater food accessibility for everyone. He positioned the empowerment scheme as a complementary effort to government programs, aiming to contribute to the state's food security goals. The program is set to expand to other regions of Nasarawa in the coming weeks.

So whether you are a politician or not, if you have the means, please come out and also assist the farmers. Come out, out of the little that you have, assist the farmers. Because when you assist them, we are going to get more food. If you have more food in the market, the food will be cheap and everybody will get it.
