Ex-Wife of Indonesian Police Officer Dies by Apparent Suicide with His Gun

North Sumatra Police are investigating the death of a woman, identified only as L, who allegedly died by suicide using a firearm belonging to her ex-husband, a police officer from the Medan Sunggal Police Station, Bripka IH. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, August 2, around 4:00 PM local time.

So, on Sunday afternoon, they were resting at home. The husband (police officer) and child were also there.

According to Kabid Humas Polda Sumut, Kombes Pol Ferry Walintukan, the victim was resting at home in Bumi Asri Medan, Cinta Damai Village, Medan Helvetia District, with her husband and child when the event unfolded. Bripka IH became suspicious when he noticed his bag was open. Upon checking, he discovered that the firearm stored inside the bag was missing.

Bripka IH soon realized his wife had taken the weapon. He then heard a gunshot coming from the bathroom. After forcing the door open, he found L deceased inside. He immediately reported the incident to the authorities. Responding officers arrived at the scene, and L's body was transported to RS Bhayangkara Medan for an autopsy.

While the investigation is ongoing, the Profession and Security Division (Bid Propam) of the North Sumatra Regional Police is examining Bripka IH's role in his ex-wife's death. He remains under examination as authorities work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
