Expelled lecturer reinstated after complaint includes 'let's commit a sin' message

An expelled lecturer, Olkan Senemoğlu, has been reinstated to his position following a legal challenge after a student filed a sexual harassment complaint against him. The case involves allegations that Senemoğlu made inappropriate advances toward the student during the remote education period.

According to the student's complaint, Senemoğlu invited her to his room under the guise of discussing personal matters, claiming to offer training in psychology and dream interpretation. The student reported that Senemoğlu then suggested they go to the mountains and fields, lie on the grass, and "commit a sin."

Following these alleged remarks, the student stated she left the room. The complaint led to an investigation by the university and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Reports indicate that Senemoğlu had previously been suspended from his duties three times due to complaints from other students and was facing a separate investigation.

Despite the allegations and previous disciplinary actions, Senemoğlu was initially dismissed from his post on April 24, 2026, based on the YÖK investigation. However, Senemoğlu appealed this decision, and the Çanakkale Administrative Court issued a stay of execution, leading to his reinstatement.
