Explosion in Galați: Man suffers burns to face and hands after blast

An explosion rocked the Micro 16 neighborhood in Galați, Romania, on Sunday, originating from a gas cylinder. The blast resulted in injuries to a 43-year-old man, who suffered burns to his face and hands.

Emergency services, including a fire intervention unit and a SMURD team with a doctor, were dispatched to the scene. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations "General Eremia Grigorescu" of Galați confirmed the incident, stating that their teams responded to a "situation of emergency generated by the production of a deflagration at a gas cylinder." The statement also noted that the victim was conscious and received on-site medical assistance before being taken to the hospital.

Firefighters have concluded their intervention at the site. Authorities are now investigating the exact circumstances that led to the explosion. The extent of the man's injuries and the cause of the blast remain under investigation.
