Explosive detonates in suspect's hand as he tried to throw it into factory; he is detained, footage emerges

A 17-year-old suspect suffered a severe injury, losing fingers from his hand, when an explosive device detonated prematurely. The incident took place late at night on July 20 in the Silivri Ortaköy Industrial Zone.

The teenager, identified as A.H.Ö., arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to throw the explosive into a nearby recycling factory for reasons yet to be determined. The device detonated in his hand before he could throw it, causing the loss of several fingers.

Following the explosion, the suspect sought initial treatment at Büyükçekmece Mimar Sinan State Hospital. He was later transferred by ambulance to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. While receiving medical attention, he was taken into custody and provided an account of the event.

Security cameras at the factory recorded the entire incident, showing the suspect arriving on his motorcycle and the explosive detonating in his hand as he prepared to throw it. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
