Explosive-laden drone found near Ukrainian cargo plane in Germany

Authorities confirmed that a drone equipped with explosives was found near a runway, but the trigger fuse was successfully removed. Police deployed a bomb disposal robot to inspect the object near the south runway.

Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, voiced suspicion regarding Russia's involvement. "Who else could it be but Russia?" he stated to Welt TV. The Leipzig airport is a critical hub for transporting military goods for the German military and NATO allies, and it serves as an operational base for the Ukrainian cargo airline Antonov Airlines.

Video footage showed a bomb disposal robot near an Antonov aircraft painted in Ukrainian colors and bearing the slogan 'Be Brave Like Kherson.' German newspaper Bild reported that a DHL cargo plane en route to Leipzig may have collided with an unidentified object in the air approximately six kilometers from the airport. The aircraft sustained minor damage to its nose but landed safely in Hanover, where the damage was assessed. Flight operations resumed early Wednesday, utilizing only the north runway, while investigations on the south runway continued.
