Fabian Murder Case: Accused Gives First Court Statement

The accused in the murder trial of eight-year-old Fabian has delivered her first statement to the court in Rostock, Germany. The 30-year-old woman read her account from a stack of papers, focusing on her relationship with Fabian's father and her connection to the young victim.

She recounted falling in love with Fabian's father and moving in with him quickly. The accused stated that her son and Fabian got along well. However, she described growing tensions in her relationship with Fabian's father, partly stemming from an abortion following an unplanned pregnancy. Their four-year relationship, which ended in August 2025, was marked by frequent voice messages detailing love, separation, accusations of lying, and jealousy, some of which have already been presented in court.

During her testimony, the accused addressed a significant piece of evidence: a kitchen roll found in her car containing Fabian's blood. She explained that Fabian had sustained a minor foot injury during an outing to a lake in August 2025. She claimed to have dabbed the lightly bleeding wound with a paper towel from the roll without tearing off the sheet.

The woman, who receives disability benefits due to a borderline personality disorder, also became emotional when discussing the death of her favorite horse. The judge granted her a short break after about half an hour.

The prosecution alleges that the accused stabbed Fabian to death on October 10, 2025, near a pond and then set his body on fire. The motive is believed to be connected to her relationship with Fabian's father and its eventual end. The trial, which began on April 28, is ongoing, with the next and potentially final hearing scheduled for September 10.
